Life has surprised me
off guard. Reality has hit hard
smashing the illusion
I held as truth. There it lies.
Alive within me,
coiled reactions of
“should” and “but”
compromising my
response. Stay here.
Stay open.
Feel the tightening
heart,
the blood flow
that says,
this hurts…
and hold it all. Be a witness
to yourself…
Listen, feel deeply.
Do not turn away from
the teaching… for
life will surprise you
